Frequently Asked Questions

Do you come to our barn to clean the tack?

Yes I do!  I can either come to your barn and clean everything that day (or over several days depending on if there are many) OR I can pick up the tack, clean it in my studio, and then return it to you.  Timeline on pickups/drop offs is approx 2 weeks. Some people prefer to have me work on everything there so I do not need to take it with me. Others prefer me to grab it and go and return it when it is ready.

Can we ship you tack?

Due to the increasing cost of shipping, especially for saddles, I would prefer to schedule to come and clean on site or pick up for cleaning and return.

Do you do repairs?

Yes, some. I can do most small repairs in the studio like restitching and refinishing.  However, I am not a saddlesmith, and so major repairs I recommend going to someone who does it all the time and has those specialized tools.

Do you offer cleaning at horse shows?

Yes, but I need to know in advance in order to make sure I have all my supplies with me and have time to get it done when you need it done.  I would MUCH prefer to schedule time in advance to come to the barn for cleaning prior to the show so neither of us is stressed.  I can do touchups quickly and easily at shows but deep cleans I try to always get done in advance.

HELP MY TACK IS MOLDY!  Can you fix it?

Yes!!  Moldy tack is a pain, but is fixable and preventable.  After deep cleaning, it is recommended that tack stay out of the bag for at least 24-48 hours to allow it to completely be exposed to air.  A common hack not discussed much is adding a few bits of chalk or a small bag of rice to your tack bags during storage. This absorbs any moisture and helps prevent mold and also silver tarnishing.
